Frequently asked

Clipper won't capture this page β€” what's wrong?

Chrome blocks all extensions from running on internal pages. Clipper cannot capture:

  • chrome://, edge://, about: pages
  • The Chrome Web Store itself
  • Local files opened as file://

Try Clipper on any normal https:// website and it'll work.

Where do my screenshots go?

Nowhere except your own device. Clipper has no servers β€” captures are built in your browser, stored temporarily in your browser's IndexedDB, and only downloaded/exported when you click Save. The stored capture clears when you restart Chrome, or immediately if you click Clear on the result page.

Is there a keyboard shortcut?

Yes β€” the default is Alt + Shift + P. If that shortcut is already used by another extension on your machine, Chrome may not assign it automatically. Open chrome://extensions/shortcuts, find Clipper, and set any combo you like.

You can also right-click any page and pick Capture full page with Clipper.

The screenshot is blank or cut off on a very long page

Chrome caps a single canvas at ~65,000 pixels per side. On a Retina display, a page taller than about 32,000 CSS pixels hits that limit. Clipper detects this and automatically scales the output to fit β€” the result page will show β€œscaled to fit canvas limit”. If you'd prefer a larger image:

  • Open Settings and turn off Retina (High-DPI) capture β€” this halves the required canvas size.
  • Or export the page in sections (scroll to the top half, capture, then the bottom half).
Sticky headers repeat down my screenshot

Turn Hide sticky headers on in Clipper's Settings. Clipper will hide fixed/sticky elements during capture so they only appear once, and restore them when the capture finishes.

How do I get a smaller file?

In Settings β†’ Quality & format, choose JPEG as the Save-as format and drop the quality slider. Or turn off Retina (High-DPI) capture to halve the image dimensions.

Does Clipper edit the PDF layout?

Yes β€” in Settings β†’ Export you can pick paper size (Letter / A4 / Legal), enable Smart page splitting (breaks at blank rows so text isn't cut across pages), and add an URL + date/time header to every PDF page.

Reporting a bug

Email us at contact@asldigitalsolutions.in and include:

  • What you were doing when it happened
  • The page URL (if you're comfortable sharing it)
  • Your Chrome version (paste from chrome://version)
  • Your OS (Windows/macOS/Linux + version)
  • Clipper version (see the extension card at chrome://extensions)

Screenshots of the console error (if any) at chrome://extensions β†’ Errors help a lot too.

Feature request

We love these. Email contact@asldigitalsolutions.in with what you'd like to see and what problem it would solve. Real use cases beat abstract ideas.

Uninstalling

Open chrome://extensions, find Clipper, and click Remove. All of Clipper's stored data (settings, the last capture) is deleted at the same time.
